I recently discussed about an important part that many bloggers might not concerning about, the footer area. I read a short explanation about this ignored part that we often find in many cases.

Many footer even not containing any useful information instead of the credits to the theme author (usually free themes have credits to its author), and more evil if the credits is removed although it’s a GPL based theme.

I guess we can put more useful stuffs in this part. I like a theme with three sections in its footer, so there will be more widgets that can be placed there. What about the sidebar? What should we place in it? I think I like to treat the footer area just like what the sidebar is for.

Generally, a simple theme will have one or two sidebar or on the right and the content on the left, but along with the time, it’s fulfilled with widgets and we need more spaces in order to put some other items we want, where will it be? Certainly, we can use the footer area.

It’s also a good option to put some navigation in it, so the visitors don’t have to scroll up their screen again to see the previous contents or to dig more information on our blog. It will make this part become more valuable in our visitor’s eyes and to give them additional stuffs that might interest them.

This is just a little part that I’m concerning to, but I’m sure we can get advantage by optimizing this area and I want to know your opinion about it.
